Aetna Plywood's spur off the former Milwaukee Road with boxcars in place. As of 2003, the building and spur tracks are still in place and visible from Elston Ave., but no longer in operation.
Looking south at intersection of W. Willow and N. Throop. Spur terminates one block south at corner of W. Wabansia. In far distance is a Home Depot on the site of former Proctor & Gamble plant, served at one time by both Milwaukee Road (ex-C&P) from the west (They are the tracks that are still in the street just outside Sipi Metals that once crossed Elston) and CNW approaching from the south. Prior to that, site was an Illinois Steel facility.

This track was used as a tail track for accessing the Aetna Plywood spur. Trains would back down this track with the locomotive in the lead, throw the switch set about where the photographer is standing, then push the boxcars alongside the Aetna Plywood building to the loading docks. The track ends at a bumping post alongside the former Kilo-Bar building.

Classic Chicago Switching scene. The track to the right led to Aetna Plywood where a switchback move was required.
Looking west past bridge over N. Elston to former site of Clybourn Junction. Connection to CNW/UP/Metra veers off to the left/south. Kennedy Expressway (I-94/90) runs above abandoned segment of Bloomingdale Line.
Looking west to N. Elston Ave (far background). The spur on the left served Aetna Plywood. Spurs buried beneath the concrete served the Hanna Engineering building on the right.
