Here are some photos of the former Union Pacific "Green Spur" on Milwaukee's South Side which was originally part of the C&NW. All of the photos are from June 20, 2013. UP Trains ran as recently as the late 2000s on this one-mile line to the Recycle America plant on the south end at 2101 West Morgan Street until this division of Waste Management moved. You can see that farther north the rails have been lifted already. I did not see any STB postings about this line being abandoned so it's either (1) not technically abandoned but out of service or (2) it's considered an industrial spur and therefore exempt from a formal notice which I doubt. For more information on the Green Line, see these images of a train operating on the Green Spur in 2007: http://www.fuzzyworld3.com/railroad/up01/ja.html Additionally, this site has some historical aerials and modeling information: http://cnwmodeling.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-green-line-in-1957.html

Looking south from Morgan Avenue at the former Recycle America plant which was the last rail-served customer on this line.

Looking north from Morgan Avenue, note the gate across the tracks-extra work for the crew!

The tracks cross Holt Avenue.

Another view of the Holt Avenue area-note the old-fashioned truck trailer parked in back.

Views from Oklahoma Avenue.

Tracks were already lifted north of Parkway Drive up to Oklahoma.
