We're standing at the north end of Kingsbury St at C&E
Junction. Straight ahead is a lead into Finkl Steel (long ago, this
was the beginning of the Deering Line), to the right, the beginning
of the Lakewood Branch.
The Lakewood Branch curves around this nicely ballasted area.
We're standing at the Treasure Island parking lot, looking north.
It must be a real sight to see a locomotive come through here.
Looking south towards Webster, we find the remains of a switch that
hasn't been used in years. At one time there were four tracks that
crossed this area. From the looks of those weeds and tall grass,
upkeep is slipping. You can barely make out any signs of rail!
Here we are at the "mecca", the large Peerless factory. We're
standing right in the middle of Schubert and Lakewood. That hopper
is probably filled with sugar.
Looking south from roughly the location of the old Hostess Bakery.
