Aerial Photo
« on: June 01, 2020, 01:41:46 PM »
The most recent aerial photo on Google maps shows the ILSX 900 switcher with five cars adjacent to Sipi. It looks like it is fairly recent as the tracks on Kingsbury south of Willow Street are gone and Finkl is gone. Any ideas who the cars were for or when the last traffic on this line occurred?  I was able to get the switcher moving along this section on October 17, 2009 https://pbase.com/gordg3/image/118400808

Chicago Terminal brought these cars over to Goose Island and parked them just east of the swing bridge on the former Finkl site back in Fall 2017 (October maybe?). They sat there until February 2018, when CTM brought them back over the bridge and parked them on the current siding seen in your Google Maps view. Apparently this was also CTM's final move on Goose Island. https://www.flickr.com/photos/19531332@N03/39577287354/in/feed

ILSX 900 was removed sometime before/during September 2019, according Cnwnorthline's post on 09/11/2019. I was just over by Sipi a few weeks ago, and the 5 reefer cars are still there. Four are "Cold Train" cars re-stamped NRDX, and the 5th car appears to once have belonged to Amtrak.
