Ogden Viaduct/Overpass

Looking through the 1995 Milwaukee Railroader again looking for inspiration and always wondered about the photo on page 13.  Show the Ogden Overpass and notes the building underneath the overpass as being integrated with the overpass.   Is this the Kirchmeiers building?   What was received or shipped from this location?

Kirchheimer was farther south, at Kingsbury and Grand.  It made paper bags.

The building you are referring to was the former Wieboldt's warehouse that had a separate entrance onto the upper level of the Ogden Avenue overpass where it went over Goose Island.  Cars used to park on the sides of Ogden.  I suppose that entrance made it handy for employees.  There was also a set of stairs that connected the bridge level of Ogden to the street level below in that area. 

In later years it was (and is) used by Pickens-Kane for storage.  Wieboldt's was a Chicago based department store chain that went out of business in the late 1980s.  That facility on North Branch under Ogden was rail served in the Milwaukee Road era.
