concern for alarm or no...
« on: August 28, 2007, 07:19:30 PM »
Hey all,

It\'s been pretty quiet around the Kingsbury Branch...With Finkl closing soon,it\'s only going to be Big Bay Lumber and General Iron...Just wishful thinking, it would be nice to see something brewing around Waste Management...

On my way to work yesterday, there were several hopper cars full of sand by Lee Lumber, but I haven\'t seen any lumber cars in almost a month...Anybody know what\'s up with them?

Is General Iron also leaving when Finkl closes?  Don\'t they \"co-locate\" some operations?

Not sure, but I hope not..We\'ve had enough businesses leave the area already as it is...

General Iron will never leave. They are downtown Chicago, close to all their suppliers, plus have rail, barge, and highway access. They have spent a small fortune on that place, and it makes a large fortune for its owners.

Big Bay had 2 cars over the weekend, so they seem to be thriving, despite the building slump, at least for now.
