Great, rare shot of the former Procter & Gamble plant (not Lever as identified in the caption) on North Avenue.  This part of North Avenue used to be a shady place in the 1980s with hookers hanging out on the street on this block late at night and their pimps around the corners in parked cars on side streets.

Great picture.  It looks like there is another set of tracks on the right side of the picture.  Did those go to the same plant?

Skokie C&NW Lines
« Reply #4 on: October 18, 2011, 07:56:36 AM »
Good catch on the C&NW train approaching Oakton Avenue on the C&NW Valley Subdivision.  Behind the train was Farley Candy which was also a rail-served customer at this late date.  Farley, like this train line, is long gone now.

For others on this forum who are not aware, there's an active Yahoo Group that focuses on the C&NW (and North Shore Line) lines in and around Skokie, including the Valley and Mayfair Subdivisions which are both gone now.
