Last night the Chicago Terminal RR ran a dinky consisting of their own switcher (I like their logo) and a business car/historic lounge. When was the last time a passenger car would have been seen on this line or ridden in regular service?
They may be back out with it today or tomorrow. The crew was last seen walking the line towards Diversey around 7 PM after having a conflict with the gym which refused to cooperate in getting cars to move off the tracks. The train only got as far as Webster or whatever the last intersection south of Fullerton is. I didn\'t stick around long enough to see if they forged their way through to end of track or just returned to North Ave. yard. Originally, they had fully planned to traverse to the old Pearless candy factory site.
Needless to say, neighbors were both surprised, excited, and a little stunned (perhaps even concerned and certainly puzzled) to see the train. They wondered what it was all about. One police sergeant (perhaps off duty) showed up, but wasn\'t at all happy with the
situation and had a lot of questions to try to stifle the fun. But the RR officials aboard stood their ground and were determined to defend their right of way to every extent possible without causing too much trouble unnecessarily. From the way they were talking, I don\'t think that they have any intention at all of abandoning that trackage any time soon, and would probably love to use it for something, if feasible. If nothing else, they were all having an absolute ball being out on this rare milage with that little train of theirs.
