Navy Pier Line / Carrol Street Track Plan?
« on: October 25, 2006, 05:35:15 PM »
I have always been fascinated by the Carrol Street Branch.
Now I work by the Reid Murdoch building and my curiosity has grown.
Does anyone have a \"trackplan\" (Can\'t remember the correct term!! Profile?)of the original rail alignments?

Thanks,
Chuck

Hi Chuck, There are a few of these in the \"research\" section of the site.  There is also a great article from the 1930\'s about the freight operation under the Merchandise Mart.  - John

Try locating Sanborn Fire Insurance maps from over the years.  They go into a great amount of detail and include trackwork.  Trains did a story on the C&NW\'s Navy Pier line in 2005 but it not well researched and was full of errors unfortunately.
