South Side Chicago Switching...
« on: February 26, 2008, 03:21:41 AM »
I\'m an editor of Forgottenchicago.com, and I\'m working on a page and hitting a dead end. Perhaps someone on here can fill me in or point me in the right direction.

Does anyone have any information about the B&O spur that went southeast from 70th/Kenwood, into a B&O yard at 87th and Burley, and over Burley into the South Works? It seems to have been built over in the late 1960s, though traces remain, especially supports for overhead wire east of Commercial avenue. An older friend of mine remembers seeing track there as a kid in the 50s, but can\'t recall if it was in use. Anyway, thats about all I know. Can anyone out there fill me in?

The best source for information on South Side lines is Doug Kaniuk who participates in this forum.  He runs a website focused on area industrial and shortlines at:

You can reach him via this website.  I don\'t want to post his e-mail address to spam harvesters don\'t see it.
