The line ran from Mayfair to Evanston to connect with the North Line at a point very near where the canal crosses Green Bay Road.  it served industry in northern and western Evanston, had a yard at Oakton St. and even had some commuter trains on it for a long time.  you can still see part of it from Mayfair to just south of Touhy behind Lincoln Town Mall.  Service ran to just north of Pratt once in a while until a couple of years ago, but north of there the oline has been gone for many years.

As I said, the line ran from Mayfair Junction on the northwest side of Chicago to a connection with the CNW North Line (the commuter route through the North Shore) near where the Sanitary and Ship Canal crosses Green Bay Road in Evanston.  It was cut back to around Touhy, still running from Mayfair, and became the spur.  It is out of service now.  Please go to yahoo Groups and look for the CNW Weber Skokie group to find out enough info to keep you busy for a long time.  I am a member, we are not a bad bunch, and we got tons of pics and other data.  Jack
