Chicago Produce District?

I know this site is north side switching,so I apologize if this is off topic.

Does anyone have any info on the past operations at the Chicago Produce District on the south side?  This area is just north of the old stockyards.  Boundry area is about 35th to Pershing and Ashland to Morgan.

Check out the Shortlines of Chicago website at:

They cover part of this area which is now served by a shortline.  The Milwaukee Road also served quite a few produce companies off Carroll Avenue and west of Milwaukee Avenue.  You can still see tracks running into the Fulton Cold Storage building at Morgan and Carroll Avenues.
