Lots of other Chicago pics in that photostream.

Forgot to mention that lots of the pics are somewhat older.  For instance, the CNW Navy Pier line crossing at Canal St. appears to be at least ten years old.  Good document of the changing urban rail scene.

Was trying to find pics of the Navy Pier line and stumbled upon the Illinois Commerce Commission website. You can search out railroad grade crossings. Tons of great reference pics. Here is a link to "at grade" crossings. You can also choose "RR above" or "RR below".  This will keep you busy for a while.

The car was spotted right in the parking lot.

Found a gondola on spur in parking lot leading to Sipi.  Gate was open in chain link fence and I figured track went through.  Looking at Google maps, I now see that track ends at the fence.  Have not seen a car there in a long time.

A shame that the line west of Halsted will be abandoned. Think the last time I saw anything on that line was back in the late '90s. There was a center flow hopper on a spur off Lumber west of Canal St.  Another instance where I regret not taking photos.

Tom,
A large portion of the north-south trackage was removed a month or two ago. I have a couple of poor cell phone pics from the roof of one of the taller buildings along the BNSF directly north of that line.  I'll try to post to flickr.

General Discussion / Does Big Bay spot cars themselves?

Added couple of Big Bay pics to flickr.

This was day after my previous flickr post when there were 5 freight cars on Cherry Avenue.  The same cars were still present but had been re-spotted further south.  Did Big Bay re-spot them with a fork truck?

Big Bay had five, yes five, freight cars today 9/4/13. The most I've ever seen there. Four centerbeams and a boxcar.
Took a few pics with my phone.  Nothing great but I needed some sort of documentation.

Once again, great modeling.  Nice mood captured in those pics.  Can't wait to build a house so I can build some sort of layout.

DOH!
That's what happens when your 6 month old doesn't let you get enough sleep.

I added the link to the original post also.

General Discussion / New ADM mill trackmobile

The ADM mill on Carroll and Ogden has a newly delivered trackmobile.  The original grey critter appears to have been retired. It's parked at the end of one of the spurs up to the bumper.  They've been using what I guess to be a leased trackmobile since about February.  There is now a brand new one decorated with the new ADM logo near the tracks but yet to be railed. Pics can be found at my newly started flickr page.

I actually went there in March so not sure if that project was started at the time.  We first stopped at Resi's and realized we were in the wrong place. Just revisited Laschet's couple days ago. Always end up eating too much.

Thanks for the new model pics. Great stuff.  Nice subtle weathering.  Like the grease by the springs of the alco trucks on detail shot of CNW 1039.  Always look forward to seeing your new models.
Was perusing your flick pics and noticed some from Laschet's Inn.  Just had my recent birthday dinner there.  Even sat at the same table!
