Coal Hoppers by Finkl siding

I drove by Finkl over the weekend and saw 3 or 4 coal hoppers on the siding behind the buildings off of Cortland. Any idea why these cars would be there? I normally see the gondolas. Made me think of the old pictures where there were coal yards off of Kingsbury.

Those might be for scrap...I saw some high-side gondolas in North Avenue yard and they say DJJ on the side...They look like a boxcar with no roof and have no chutes underneath. Let me know...
