Passenger cars for the Chicago Terminal
« on: November 03, 2010, 08:36:55 PM »
THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN RUMORS AS FAR AS I KNOW SO FAR

But...

On the \"fuzzyworld3um\" somebody asked: \"This months Railpace had a small blurb and photo about some ex-LIRR bilevel cars going to the Chicago Terminal Railroad for excursions this winter. Anyone know anything about this?\"

So I too ask the question \"Has anyone here read/heard anything?\"

My guess is that those bi-levels are intended to be scrapped by General Iron Industries upon delivery by the Chicago Terminal.  CP Rail did the same with former Metra bi-levels, pushing them across the Chicago River to General Iron Industries to be scrapped in place.

Not sure otherwise where the excursions would run now that Chicago Terminal is restricted to less than two miles of track from Clybourn Avenue south to Bliss Street and North Branch on Goose Island, following its settlement with the City of Chicago to amputate its limbs on the north and south.  Their other operation in Elk Grove Village is made up of industrial sidings and spurs.

Found them: there are 2 Long Island RR (SGRX 3007 both cars carry the same number) parked on the CTM locomotive track in Elk Grove Village. Will post message when pictures are upload. I was out with a friend when we spotted the LIRR commuter cars

SGRX is listed as belonging to \"Skip Gibbs.\" There is a privately owned (family) bridge company by that name, and one of their products is flatcars recycled into bridges, so there is a rail connection in that regard. Possibly CTM is planning excursions, but car storage seems a bit more likely. We\'ll see.
be well,

According to this article (http://www.journal-topics.com/business/article_cddd3c60-ad91-11e0-b548-001a4bcf6878.html#user-comment-area) there were plans for a Polar Express train.
