This picture depicts the Chicago & North Western making a run out
to the Navy Pier area with a delivery for the City of Chicago water
filtration plant, probably of chlorine, in the tank car. The
boxcars are destined for the Chicago Tribune's loading docks on
Illinois Street just east of Michigan Avenue. By 1984 the Tribune
relocated its printing press to the new Freedom Center on Chicago
River where rail shipments went. This photo dates from between 1968
and 1971 and was taken at twilight.
