Modeling / SW7 #623
« on: June 18, 2010, 11:47:13 AM »
BLI Paragon 2.  BLI\'s MILW HO-scale version is out of production, so I bought the PRR model (all one color and no stripe \'ghost\' lines) and stripped it bare and re-painted/decaled it for #623 SW7 in mid-50s look.  No MARS, still has pneumatic bell, unique stack arrestors/mufflers for close urban canyons.

Modeling / CMStP&P Freight House #5
« on: February 01, 2010, 02:23:14 PM »
Been looking for pictures in various archives and historical sites of the old freight house at the \"end\" of the Kingsbury line at Kinzie. All the photos I have are aerial from the MRHA books, and the Sanborn map info indicates 2 stories, but I have not run across any views of the front/back/sides for modeling. Any help? Would not want to just make a generic brick bldg if there was some interesting architectural details or style or ornimentation.

General Discussion / MILW Swing bridge at Kinzie
« on: August 28, 2009, 09:38:33 AM »
To All,

I have info on the Z-2 swing bridge onto Goose Is. and the Z-6 bridge at the Bloomingdale east end, but cannot find any info on the (now removed) bridge or it\'s designation; Z-??.

See MRHA Special Pub. No. 6: Tom Burke\'s \'The Milwaukee In Chicago\' book, page 36 for photo and location reference.

I used The Library of Congress HABS/HAER website for historic bridges and have their info for Z-2 and Z-6 (MILW designations) bridges.

Any help or direction appreciated.

Thanks,

Charlie

Hi All,

Anyone know where I can find a track diagram?
Any info on adjacent customers by the yard served by the MILW?

Thanks,

Charlie

General Discussion / FYI - Bill Denton\'s Kingsbury Website
« on: December 17, 2008, 03:49:37 PM »
Bill had his N-scale MILW Rd. hosted by AOL Hometown and it\'s now gone.  AOL permanently dumped this part of AOL and gave all Hometown users ample warning over the past month or two that it would be disappearing.

Hope Bill can find a new host for this nice reference site.
The \"Wayback Machine\" on Internet Archives is broken too - no images.

Hi All,

Anyone know if Skytop Productions is still offering this MILW model?
The current website for them seems old or not updated? Have not gotten
reply from email.

General Discussion / Kingsbury Branch question
« on: July 17, 2008, 01:28:56 PM »
Hi All,

Anyone seen or know where I could obtain an MILW engineering dwg or track plan of this district, say 1950s-60s era?  Would like some modeling references (spur loactions/customer) for planning a \'Kingsbury-like\' layout.

Everything I\'ve found, so far, just shows a black line down the east bank of the canal/river, or mentions this or that customer, but no detailed spur info.  Have seen aerial views of snippets of remaining tracks as they appear today.

Thanks,

Charlie

General Discussion / Goose Is. Storage Yard question
« on: May 05, 2008, 01:40:45 PM »
Hi All,

Was there a \"name\" or designation for the old MILW storage yard on Goose Island?  How about the MILW freight house name or number there as well?

Can\'t seem to find any references in the files here on the CNSS website.

TIA,

Charlie

Modeling / MILW LCL boxcar designations?
« on: December 31, 2007, 03:19:56 PM »
Happy New Year All!

Did MILW use specially marked cars for LCL or \"Merchandise Service\"
or \"Time Saver\" like PRR and B&O, etc. in the 50s-60s? Have not found
any pics yet.

Special lettering or marks, stars, bars, stripes or something?

TIA,

Charlie
