Hello,
Looks like there's a new EJ&E book with info. on Goose Island. http://www.flickr.com/photos/31385681@N02/10585563335/lightbox/
Not sure I remember exactly where or what that was. Sound interesting.

The EJ&E serviced the Illinois Steel plant on the west side of the North Branch of the Chicago River at Wabansia and Throop with an isolated (from the rest of the EJ&E) plant switching operation. It interchanged with the C&NW and the MILW at the Rolling Mill yard which was next to where Sipi Metals is now. Chicago Terminal removed the passing siding a couple of years ago that was a remnant of the Rolling Mill yard and replaced it with a siding over the Elston bridge apparently to sell or lease the extra land that was freed up to that car dealer for storing vehicles.
Illinois Steel was a subsidiary of US Steel as was the EJ&E.
Not aware of any EJ&E operation on Goose Island.
The new book looks pretty good though. There was also an Arcadia Press book about the EJ&E a few years ago.
