Good catch. My guess is that the bridge in the background is Clark Street, and the train is where Quaker Oats is located nowadays. I like the spur that veers off on a sharp curve from left to right! The photographer was probably on the Wabash Avenue bridge.

That spur is visible in one of the track diagrams. Very cool.
