Saw a documentary on the making of Ferris Bueller yesterday and noticed when their Ferrari is coming into the city on Kinzie by Blommer Chocolate, you can see some the tops of some boxcars in State Street Yard.

Good catch.
I wonder why it had the name State Street Yard when it was almost eight city blocks west? Maybe because it was a staging area for freight traffic where the Navy Pier line crossed State Street.

could be mis-labeled, The old Sun-Times (now Trump Tower) replaced the State St. Yard

Photo from 1988 of the C&NW yard west of Canal and south of Kinzie with boxcars from/for the Sun-Times on the Navy Pier line. You can see the track that curved across Kinzie and went past Blommer Chocolate. The big building in the distance on the left is the Fulton Cold Storage facility at Morgan and Carroll. It was still rail-served by the Soo Line in 1988. Also to the left are what appear to be reefers on the former Milwaukee Road yard-perhaps awaiting spotting at the Fulton facility.
Now tall condo buildings occupy this scene.
