The northwestern historical society posted some amazing shots of CNW on the Navy Pier:

Also... looks like there will be a new road by/in place of UP tracks to Blommer:

General Discussion / Morton Salt and Chicago Tribune updates

Hello

Looks like the iconic Morton Salt roof will be preserved.

Not rail served but kind of cool.

In other news something big might happen near the Chicago Tribune Land.  From the pictures the rails look cut off near the bridge but can't tell for sure or fully understand what the plan exactly is:

You're not going to be able to recognize much of this are soon!

Here's some more of the "story"

Also looks like their in trouble for using the name "Polar Express" without copyright permission in other areas.  Mr. Ellis sure has a lot on his plate these days!

Here's an interesting article explaining the changes that have been happening and could be happening to Chicago's Northside.  To be honest, this would be good jobs for Chicago, even if it doesn't generate freight:

They're somewhere and I'd love to share them.  I'm in between computers but will share when I get a chance.

General Discussion / Tank cars everywhere!
« on: August 24, 2017, 12:18:37 PM »
The tanks are all over the Terminal.  Here are some great shots:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/23688072@N06/

Many of the cars are marked "Do not load: return for repairs"   The blue one on the end simply says "Do not load"  I'm guessing this is part of some game by the CTR.  We'll probably all have some good STB reports to enjoy again.

I really, REALLY wish I could have seen this movement personally!

General Discussion / Re: 1917 Clybourn shot
« on: June 11, 2017, 09:34:36 AM »
Here's the caption they added:
"We are back in Chicago and once again at Clybourn station, the first station to the north and northwest of downtown Chicago. This Stecher (C&NW employee) photo was probably taken about 1917. Straight ahead of us is today's Metra North line while the today's Metra Northwest line veers away from the station just past the station. The building on the far right of the photo still stands and was originally, as you can see, a pickle plant which took cucumbers from a lot of farmers along the north and northwest lines."

Hi,

Hope everyone can see this.  Here's an amazing shot of the old Clybourn station from the CNW historical society.

https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/18951367_1333197596776631_8810497176700005055_n.jpg?oh=e8ab120862bde4ddc5e3b1f05d98f348&oe=59E204FD

Looks like the CNW used to move a lot of pickles back in the day on the northside.
