Good catch.  I made that graph a long time ago when the CS site was smaller in scope.

New Site Updates / The Map Interface
« on: December 09, 2006, 12:27:56 PM »
How many of you use the map interface at http://chicagoswitching.com/chicagoswitching/v4/articles/mapdisplay.asp ?

Do you frequently use it to discover photos, or did you just use it once?  Is the download size (1.4MB) too big?  Are the aerial photos helpful?

Thanks.  A Navy Pier and Deering Line map are in the works...

Big news indeed.  Hopefully, we can get an exact date of the last shipments and document it.

Yes indeed.  It\'s been a busy year for me and some of the updates I planned to do this summer I still haven\'t started yet!

Thanks for being patient.

Do you mean the tracks on N. Branch?  They should have been for Akzo Salt.

Chris,

I thought of building an n scale version of the Navy Pier line in an 18\" x 8\' area.  Scratchbuilding all the tall buildings scared me away:)

In the 60\'s-70\'s timeframe, SW8 #801 was the frequent power on the Pier Line.

Would you mind providing a copy of the Sanborn Maps?

I would be interested in any that relate directly to the locations covered on this web site.  What do you have?

New Site Updates / What\'s Your Screen Resolution?
« on: January 28, 2005, 04:12:00 PM »
I\'m thinking about creating a map viewing application for this site and I would like to know what screen size you\'re using.  Usually, design on the web is targeted to 800x600, but with time this is changing to 1024x768.  Drop me a line or respond to this thread.  Thanks!

Modeling / WOOT........
« on: January 23, 2005, 08:37:33 AM »
I just moved this topic to the modeling forum.

I know of the jnj cars.  They get nice reviews, but a little too pricy at around $25 per kit, without trucks or decals.  I\'m hoping Micro-Trains comes out with both 40 and 50  footers, in the $12 price range.

If anybody is planning on these in n scale, I know that they would be big sellers.

Mel -

Your book sounds great.  It\'s amazing that there is so much interest in the areas that we cover on our website.  As Tom Burke says, we\'ll love to hear you railroad related lakewood memories.

Forgot to mention that, as an aside, I recently learned that the MILW served the North American Cold Storage Building just south of the swing bridge.  There was a 90 degree crossing with CNW\'s Navy Pier Line in this area.

Josh,

It\'s great to see what your group is trying to acompolish!

We just expanded our site to include this line and currently have no photos in our archives.  Please let us know if you come across any historical info.
