A rail line would be cool but I would definitely miss the freight trains. Too bad I never got pics of the freight trains on Goose Island a couple summers ago.

A lot of these buildings are still around. In some of the older pics Kingsbury doesn't look accessible to cars. Is this just the angle?

General Discussion / Re: Last Chicago Terminal Train in Chicago

I have been following this line since the 1950's. My parents had friends living on Lakewood and I used to see the trains. When I was a teenager we used to hike along the railroad tracks from Wrigley Field to my friends grandmother on Seminary who would make us homemade pizza following a Cubs game. I posted some pics. at http://www.pbase.com/gordg3/chicago_terminal_railroad Sorry to this line come to an end.

Nice job of thoroughly documenting this trackage in transition.  It's amazing that the business collapsed so quickly after Chicago Terminal took over operations in January of 2007.

I agree, nice job documenting this. That goes for all of you.

Very cool shots, I noticed the fence on Google maps as of Sept 2016. Glad it was removed.

Since We're talking about the suburbs, is there anymore switching in Melrose or Franklin Park? I remember almost getting hit by a locomotive driving down Belmont just behind the Life Fitness West of Mannheim. This now looks abandon as will as the one near Armitage and Mannheim.

The family of the lost boy said they want the bridge destroyed. I didn't know it was out of service. I remember this line running down next to Triton college.

Interesting, This article also has a link to another about the 606 extension

https://www.chicagoarchitecture.org/2016/11/29/could-the-606s-expansion-really-happen/

It basically sounds like a pipe dream. I just noticed that they removed the Ashland bridge.

How about General Iron? Would this trail be similar to the Cherry Street Bridge?
