With Chicago terminal\'s acqusition of the ELK Grove Industrial Park......Central Illinois will have to make some special moves.....

One POSSIBLE move tat could take place is this......they have a huge storage line of about 60 (?) tank cars somewhere in the park.....they will most likely store these cars somewhere on their property downtown.......I\'ve heard rumors that they might be stored somewhere on the track that runs past the Cook County jail over by 26th St. and California Ave.......All of the stored tanks won\'t fit.....but this is one extra piece of track that to my knowledge...they dont use.....

Once I can confirm this...I\'ll let you guys know....

No...I dont have a picture....but some friends of mine up near the WSOR\'s Horicon Paint Shops tell me of an ILSX switcher that is or has been repainted into some form of the Chicgao Terminal paint.....I\'d assume that it would be for the Elk Grove job.....

Once I get confirmation...and possibly a picture...I\'ll let everyone know......

General Discussion / 4/19/07 The \"Kingsbury Switcher\" is back!
« on: April 19, 2007, 09:34:23 PM »
I had the day off today from good ol\' High School.....so I decided to follow the good guys around.....

i recently saw a shot on railpictures.net of the crew cleaning out a switch that hadn\'t seen service in a while down on the Kingsbury Line.....the picture was form last tuesday.....and when I rode by on my bike...the boxcar was still sitting on the spur down on the Kingsbury line.....

Anyway....I biked downtown to pick up a couple of developed rolls of slide film from Helix Camera and Video.....went over to the 18th/21st street area.....caught a couple of freights comming through the interlockers.....and then headed back up north...

The guys were just backing their stuff into Finkl.....they pulled forward with just their car for Big Bay......headed over the bridge by north avenue....and dropped off the loaded lumber....

The pulled north light engine....cleaned out the switch at the connection to the Kingsbury Line....and proceeded south......a car was too close to the spur that the boxcar was on....so the crew had to go find the poor sap.....he moved his car.....the engine hooked up to the boxcar....shoved back down the \"main\"......went back onto goose island...ran around their car....and proceeded engine facing north back to the yard I assume.......

This was very exciting since....in only the past month or so have I heard of the Kingsbury line being used.....

On another funny note.....apparently some of Chicago\'s finest are railfans.....a cop pulled over and parked to take a shot of the engine as the crew was cleaning out one of the switches!

General Discussion / Report: 2/22/07 (PEERLESS!!!!)
« on: February 22, 2007, 07:50:23 PM »
Well......today was wonderful....

I planned to ditch school to watch the Terminal go about its duites on the Lakewood Branch today.......but I decided against it due to the fact that I didnt know if they\'d run or not.......but during my lunch period......my friend Kevin said that he\'d like to go over to Peerless and try and catch the job after school.......so of course I agreed....

The eight period bell rang.....we hopped in his car.......drove over to Diversy and Lakewood....and sure enough......right there hooked up to a tank....the Chicago Terminal was just about to shove into Peerless\' siding........

People were saying that there is possibly one or two more loads to deliver with March 7th being tossed around as the last day.........remind you that this is what I heard from the ten or so guys that were talking........so take that info at your own risk.......

anyway.......it kinda occured to me that some of you guys might have been out there today..........I was the kid with the long hair and the black sweater running around like a freakin\' gazelle.........nice to meet anyone that was out there today......
