Title: George St/Lincoln Ave/Lakewood Ave
Post by: Mel Giles on January 10, 2005, 01:23:37 AM
Tom Mann:
I came across your website and got interested when I saw the pictures, since I spent several years of my childhood living in the triangle these streets encompass.
My name is Melvin E. Giles and I am the author of \"George Street, Our Street\" a hardcover novel which describes growing up on Lakewood and then moving around the corner to the meat packing area on George Street.
I regret that I do not possess many pictures of the area; only those which remain in my mind, and in the pages of my novel.  I would be glad to converse with any interested parties, about those \"good old days\" of the \"forties\" and the locations of various companies in that area. Interested parties can also learn more about my book on my website which is www.oakdalepress.com.

Thanks for your comments.  Any anecdotes that you can recall that involve train operation around Lakewood/Lincoln/George would be appreciate by all of the visitors to the site.

Mel -

Your book sounds great.  It\'s amazing that there is so much interest in the areas that we cover on our website.  As Tom Burke says, we\'ll love to hear you railroad related lakewood memories.
